Thanks to several long days with an abacus, a slide rule, a 12 pack of beer, we are able to present to you, dear viewer, a breakdown of some of the more intriguing statistics for the 2013 Old Blue Eyes Memorial Celebrity Death Watch. Why not saunter on down to the frig and grab a beer. We'll wait... ... ... ... Ah, that's better. Read on.

A total of 167 Death Watchers are playing this year. That's six more players than last year. There would have been 168 players but one player never sent any contact info after numerous requests. So, for the first time in OBE history, we disqualified an entry.

Death Watchers from 30 states in the U.S. and the District of Columbia are playing as are Death Watchers from 3 other countries. The states represented and the number of Death Watchers from each are: AL(1), AZ(3), CA(15), CO(7), DC(1), FL(12), IL(8), IN(9), KY(3), LA(6), MA(4), MD(3), ME(2), MI(5), MN(2), MO(4), NC (2), NE (4), NJ(16), NY(12), OH(9), OR(2), PA(4), SC(1), TN(1), TX(5), VA(4), VT(1), WA (2), WI(5) and WV(4). The countries represented and the number of Death Watchers from each are: Australia(3), Canada(4), and England(3).

167 lists should result in 2171 total picks entered (Really! Try it on YOUR abacus!). However, 17 pick names were deemed ***Not a Celebrity*** this year. One of those 17 names appeared on four lists. The rest appeared on one list each. That means a total of 20 picks places got eliminated as ***Not a Celebrity***. Those 17 smelly picks occupied spots across 16 total lists. All of this reduced the total number of picks in play to 2151. On a side note, two of the ***Not a Celebrity*** picks (Ethan Zohn and Harlod Camping were posted as ***Not a Celebrity*** all year on the 2012 OBE site! Sheesh.

Fortunately, the ***Not A Celebrity*** count went down from 43 to 17 this year (a 60.5% decrease). Pretty amazing considering we received 76 names not already in the database posted on the web-page (just click Frank's picture on the Main Page for the 2013/2014 updated celebrity database). Of those 76 names, we excluded 17 names (22.4%) and accepted 59 names (77.6%). Not too shabby.

One more thing about ***Not A Celebrity*** picks. We will not argue with you, hear you out, or entertain your lousy rationalizations, gripes, whines, or other similar annoyances regarding your crappy pick getting scratched. You paid yer money (we hope) you took yer chances. We call this the Ronnie Hawkins stipulation.

We had two lists entered which were short one pick each. We also had one list that contained only one pick, meaning it was short 12 picks. With a total of 14 missing picks the total pick count dropped to 2137 picks. Lists with missing picks still compete. These lists just play short the missing picks. On the Entries page, missing picks are listed as "--------------".

Five rocket scientists entered lists containing a pick that was already dead (Dolores Hope [two lists], Etta James, Ernest Borgnine, and Harry Carey Jr.). In fairness, the list with Harry Carey Jr. is forgivable. They submitted two days after Mr. Carey died. We almost exercised the Alterante for this list. However, we checked the headlines and Carey's death was all over the place for at least 24 hours before this list was emailed to us. As for the other four lists, come on! These deaths have been posted on the OBE for months (and in the case of Ms. Hope, years). Anyway, that means our pick count drops by five to 2132.

Three lists had alternates exercised this year. Two lists had Jack Klugman and one list had Daniel Inouye. Each of these lists was submitted before the Celebrity pick made their donation to the hungry worm population.

Speaking of donations, here's how things went for the OBE this year. 76 (45.5%) Death Watchers donated this year. That's down about four percent from last year. This statistic basically means that 54.5% of you are freeloaders. We're just saying. Keep in mind, we accept doantions all year long.

So Guys, what the Ferlin Husky does all this crap really mean? Great question little unknown singer! It means you should open another beer, take a swig, take another, okay down it and get another beer... quickly... we'll wait... ... ... ... sit back and read this.

There are a total of 167 lists with a total of 2132 total valid picks entered. 337 different celebrities (29 less than last year!) make up the 2132 picks. Of the 337 celebrities picked to bite it, 145 (43.0%) were on only one list (the Tad Szulcs), 57 (16.9%) were on only two lists (the double whammies), 45 (13.4%) were on three or four lists (the mortage a trois) and the remaining 90 (26.7%) were on five or more lists.

The number one pick this year is the same as it has been for the last two years! That apparently immortal lady, Zsa Zsa Gabor appears on 116 (69.5%) lists. "Read my soon to be blue lips!" Yup, George H. W. Bush was the number two pick. His name appears on 97 (58.1%) lists. The third most popular pick this year is one old cracker. Yup, Billy Graham appears on 87 lists (52.7%).
